The process I follow
By fostering a non-judgemental environment focused on building better understanding, I help disputing parties find solutions that best meet their specific interests and needs. I step into disagreements using a facilitative mediation process that is fuelled by empathy, understanding and connection.
How does my mediation process work?
Get stakeholder buy-in
Structure the mediation
After obtaining a basic understanding of the dispute, I work with all the parties to design a process that is constructive, comfortable, meaningful and effective.
Understand stakeholder perspectives, issues and interests
Through joint and private sessions, I seek to better understand the problem that needs to be solved through an understanding of the various perspectives of the parties as well as by exploring what really matters to each party.
Build awareness of the law
Mindful that the alternative to my process is litigation, I ensure that the parties have a sound understanding of their legal reality. While the law doesn’t dominate the mediation process, a sound understanding of the legal reality is essential for making informed decisions.
Explore solutions
We’ll explore several options based on your needs, interests, the law and other points of reference before negotiating final offers.
Conclude and follow-up
I then work with legal representatives as they convert settlement terms to an agreement. Finally, I’ll ensure that terms are executed as agreed by all parties during mediation.
